This May, in celebration of National Pet Month, residents and team members across the country came together for the 5th Annual AVE is PAWsome campaign to support local animal shelters.
“At AVE, we're proud to be pet-friendly because we know pets are an important part of people’s family,” says Lea Anne Welsh, president of AVE. “With no breed or weight restrictions and amenities such as dog parks and pet spas, we strive to create a welcoming environment for pets and their owners alike. AVE is PAWsome extends that commitment beyond our communities by supporting local shelters and rescue organizations.”
During the month-long initiative, AVE communities collected 90 boxes of pet supplies for shelter partners, helped 5 animals get adopted, and donated $50 for every pet lease signed in May, totaling $1,050.
From food and treats to toys, blankets, cleaning supplies, several successful pet adoptions, every contribution helped local shelters provide comfort and care for animals waiting for their forever homes.

Finding Fur-ever Homes
Throughout the month, AVE communities partnered with local rescue organizations to help connect adoptable pets with future families and raise awareness for pet adoption.
- AVE Tampa Riverwalk hosted a pet adoption event with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, resulting in two pet adoptions.
- AVE Phoenix Sky and AVE Phoenix Terra teamed up with the Arizona Humane Society for Bringing Tails Home: Adoption Day, an event that helped one furry friend find a home.
- AVE Hamilton Green - 5 Cottage and AVE Hamilton Green - 25 Cottage's Paws on the Green event with SNARR Northeast Rescue generated six dog adoption applications and two kitten adoptions.
Other communities found creative ways to introduce residents to adoptable pets. AVE Austin North Lamar hosted puppy and kitten yoga, bringing together residents and adoptable animals for a unique wellness event. The Franklin Residences hosted a Yappy Hour with Morris Animal Refuge, while AVE Clifton welcomed residents to Puppy Speed Dating with Dolly, an adoptable dog from Brick City Rescue.
