Corporate Social Responsibility

AVE is an organization that deeply cares about people and the communities in which we do business. The Korman family has spent generations supporting causes from education, to housing, to hunger. We believe in the power of action and empower our team members to volunteer and give back. AVE regularly hosts drives, events, and fund-raisers for our partners and participates in community programs.

Move for Hunger

AVE joined forces with Move For Hunger in 2015 to mitigate hunger in our communities. Working alongside the Move For Hunger team and its national network of moving partners, we have seamlessly integrated a food donation program into our operations to divert food from landfills to local food banks when our residents move out. We also regularly organize food drives and fund-raisers to support all of Move For Hunger’s food insecurity programs.

Habitat for Humanity

While AVE has been supporting Habitat for Humanity in Suburban Philadelphia for years, we formalized a partnership this past year to deepen our impact. As housing providers, we feel a great responsibility to ensure everyone has a safe, comfortable place to live. Working closely with the Habitat for Humanity team, AVE has seamlessly integrated a donation program into our operations to divert gently used furnishings from our renovation projects from landfills to Habitat for Humanity ReStores, where sales directly finance H4H’s housing projects. Team members also regularly volunteer at ReStore to help with merchandising and volunteer in local fund-raisers.

AVE is Pawsome

Each May, AVE communities nationwide collect donations—like toys, food, beds, and blankets—in honor of our four-legged residents. In addition, AVE makes a monetary donation to a local shelter for every pet move-in that month. Past partners include Morris Animal Refuge, Austin Humane Society, Home at Last, and others supporting our furry friends.

Breast Cancer Awareness

AVE proudly supports breast cancer awareness initiatives that make a lasting impact. We’ve participated in campaigns like Susan G. Komen® Philadelphia and the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Walk in Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. In 2024, we walked with Erin’s AVEngers in honor of a teammate’s daughter, continuing to raise awareness and stand in solidarity.

MANNA

MANNA honored Steven H. Korman, founder of Korman Communities, with the 9th Annual Steven H. Korman Day of Caring. Friends, family, and team members from Korman Communities, AVE, and aka volunteered in MANNA’s kitchen to celebrate his 20+ years of leadership. Steven also led MANNA’s capital campaign, resulting in the new Steven Korman Nutrition Center, supporting its mission of food as medicine.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of New Jersey

Our New Jersey communities spread cheer to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Jersey by delivering toys generously donated by residents, partners, and team members during our annual AVE Holiday Spirit of Giving. CASA supports local programs where trained volunteers advocate for children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

Holidays in July

Each July, AVE communities nationwide unite for our Holidays in July campaign—a mid-year donation drive supporting local children and families in need. Inspired by our Holiday Spirit of Giving, it reminds us that essentials are needed year-round. Teams partner with hospitals, foster care groups, and nonprofits like Toys for Tots and Cradles to Crayons.

Saint Christopher’s Children’s Hospital

For four years, we’ve proudly partnered with Saint Christopher’s Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia to support children and families during the holidays. Through toy drives and festive activities, our team brings joy, comfort, and celebration to those in care. We’re honored to continue this meaningful tradition each year.

KOP Shops for CHOP

AVE Greater Philadelphia partners with KOP District to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) during King of Prussia Restaurant Week. CHOP’s KOP campus, a valued neighbor, benefits from Shops for CHOP, supporting lifesaving research. AVE also furnishes the Igloo Garden on the Green, creating a cozy fall dining spot for residents and neighbors.

Move For Hunger

When Lea Anne Welsh, COO of Korman Communities and president of AVE, met Move For Hunger founder Adam Lowy, a partnership was born. The nonprofit mobilizes the relocation industry to fight hunger by collecting food during moves. Since 2015, AVE has supported this mission with year-round collections and biannual food drives for Hunger Action Month and Thanksgiving.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital

For the past two years, AVE Phoenix Sky, AVE Phoenix Terra, and AVE Paradise Valley have proudly partnered with Phoenix Children’s for their Toy Land Drive. In 2024, our first Holiday Spirit of Giving expanded these efforts, uniting our community to collect countless toys for children in the hospital and connect with the caring hospital staff.
