AVE works with Move For Hunger to collect food donations

In the month of September, AVE hosted its fifth annual food drive to support Move For Hunger and to raise awareness for Hunger Action Month, with nearly 2,500 pounds of food being collected and donated.

All 13 AVE flexible-living communities in New Jersey, the Greater Philadelphia area, and the East Bay area of San Francisco hosted food drives to benefit Move For Hunger. Over 500 pounds of food were collected from AVE Lansdale alone, which equals 450 meals.

With the generosity of our team members, residents, and partners, AVE donated a total of 2,480 pounds of food to the Community FoodBank of NJ, Philabundance, West Chester Food Cupboard, and San Francisco Marin Food Bank, providing over 2,000 meals for those in need.

We would also like to thank Move For Hunger’s moving partners for collecting the donations at each of our communities and delivering them to our local food banks – Crown Relocations of New York, Harrington Moving and Storage, Gentle Giant (Philadelphia), Wayne Moving and Storage, and Shamrock Moving and Storage (San Francisco).

“AVE has embraced our model and implemented a sustainable way to fight hunger and reduce food waste at each of their properties,” says Adam Lowy, Executive Director/Founder of Move For Hunger. “They have proven that the program is capable of making a huge impact, and that has helped us expand our reach in the multi-family industry. Move For Hunger would not be the organization it is today without their support.”

“We look forward to our September food drive every year, and any opportunity we have to support our partner Move For Hunger in their quest to reduce hunger in our communities,” says Lea Anne Welsh, president of AVE and COO of Korman Communities. “We raised 1,000 more pounds of food this year, which is amazing! I am always so proud of our passionate team members and generous residents.”
