MEET MICHELLE NESTA, MARKETING BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST

Michelle is a critical member of AVE’s Marketing team, as she analyzes our systems data to understand who lives with us and how they heard about us. She provides reporting with insights on return on advertising spend, email marketing campaigns, and social media initiatives in order to be most efficient and strategic with our sales and marketing efforts. She also supports the on-site teams with coordination of marketing materials, sending e-blasts, and maintaining our digital listings.

Q: What is your hometown? 
A: Knox, Pennsylvania

Q: How long have you been with Korman Communities | AVE? 
A: 6 years in September. I started at the corporate office assisting the executive team, and I’ve been with the AVE Marketing team now 2 years.

Q: What is a typical workday like for you? 
A: Like most of the team members who work at AVE, “typical” doesn’t really apply! However, when I’m not visiting our communities, I’m usually in Excel and our systems pulling/compiling reports and analyzing our data. My computer always has five to ten spreadsheets open. I also help field marketing requests from our on-site teams and schedule a lot of e-blasts!

Q: What brings you the greatest satisfaction in your role? 
A: I love working to bring information to light that can be useful for our on-site teams and leadership. As we always say, knowledge is power. Being able to provide a piece of that insight and working to build strategy around it to help better our business and performance is so rewarding.

Q: What is your favorite AVE amenity or service? 
A: Our resident receptions are the best! I love the creative, fun ideas that our teams come up with to help build community. My favorite events are those that pair with a charitable initiative. From the annual Toys for Tots collection, food contributions for Move for Hunger, professional clothing drives, and even donations for pet supplies, it’s amazing to see that our residents and teams are so giving!

Q: What is your favorite quote and why? 
A: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” 
It’s funny how those common sayings that you were told as a child are sometimes the ones that resonate with you the most as an adult. I believe that hard work, grit, and perseverance are so valuable. To accomplish your goals, you have to keep your head up and continue moving forward every day, even if that means failing once or twice along the way. It also really characterizes AVE – we’re always encouraged to work hard, try new things, and never give up.

Q: What is your favorite spot in Philly and why? 
A: I love Reading Terminal Market! You can find whatever you’re looking for and everything you’re not. Whether you want amazing prepared food, fresh groceries to make your own meal, or even a fun gift, RTM is the perfect one-stop-shop.

Q: What’s something interesting about you that we might not know? 
A: I’ve sailed across the Atlantic Ocean…twice. I did a study abroad program called Semester at Sea in college. We started in Nova Scotia and spent the next eight days crossing the Atlantic until we arrived at our first port in Spain. I visited 10 countries around the Mediterranean before coming back to the states. It was an incredible experience!
