The bicycle has been popular for transportation and leisure in America since the late 1800s. But in recent years, due to Millennials foregoing cars in favor of bikes, business travelers replacing golf with cycling as the new networking activity, the health and wellness craze, and bike share programs like Citi Bike in Manhattan, biking is experiencing a boom.
“At AVE, we’re more than a residential community; we’re a lifestyle,” says Lea Anne Welsh, president of AVE. “Everything we do – from the amenities we offer, to our high-touch services is to provide comfort, convenience, and an enhanced life for our residents.”
AVE is excited to announce its latest health and wellness amenity – AVE Bike Share! Beginning April 2nd, each AVE community will have a fleet of orange folding Citizen Bikes that residents can borrow complimentary to take a leisurely trail ride at a community park or to enjoy outdoor fitness.
The AVE Bike Share program features folding Citizen GOTHAM7 bikes. Each bike is outfitted with a 7-speed Shimano drivetrain, geared practically for hard-packed dirt trails and paved surfaces. Their stunning lightweight aluminum frame design makes for easy folding, carrying, and storing. “We chose a folding bike style so our residents could easily port them and store them in their trunks to drive to popular local parks and enjoy bike trails,” Welsh says.
“At AVE, our goal is to create a sense of community – both at our property for our residents and in our neighborhoods,” says Welsh. “We thought having a bike share program would be another opportunity for our residents to socialize and get to know their neighborhood.”
