In September, AVE hosted its fourth annual food drive to support Move For Hunger
and to raise awareness for Hunger Action Month.
All 13 communities in New Jersey, the Greater Philadelphia Area, and the East Bay Area of San Francisco hosted resident tailgate events featuring pre-game food classics like hot dogs, hamburgers, cold beer, and corn hole, all with the goal to tackle hunger in their neighborhoods. Attendees were asked to make a food donation for Move For Hunger.
“Our goal was to collect 1,000 lbs. of food between all of the properties,” says Lea Anne Welsh, COO of Korman Communities and president of AVE. “I am so proud to report that we nearly doubled that goal, collecting 1,900 lbs., which is enough to provide 1,580 meals to the food banks in our backyards.”
AVE is a proud partner of Move For Hunger. “Our teams really go above and beyond to organize a fun event every year to really drive those donations,” Welsh says. Since 2015, AVE has donated 7,880 meals.
