In October, we hosted our first Professional Clothing Drive to support individuals in our communities who desire to re-enter the workforce.
“Our team members are passionate about giving back,” says Lea Anne Welsh, COO of Korman Communitiesand president of the AVE brand. “We feel it is our responsibility to be engaged corporate citizens. What better way as professionals to give back to our community than to give someone the tools to achieve success in their professional aspirations.”
AVE’s four properties in New Jersey collected a total of 26 boxes of professional attire to donate to Dress for Success in Morris County. Dress for Success provides professional clothing to local women in need. Their mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
“Thank you AVE for hosting a Suit Drive for Dress for Success Northern New Jersey. Your Suit Drive will help us provide professional clothing to all the women we serve. We truly appreciate your generous support and look forward to a continuing relationship with you,” says Loraimy Rodriguez, Boutique Manager/Volunteer Coordinator for Dress for Success Northern New Jersey.
Five AVE communities in the Greater Philadelphia Area collected 23 boxes of professional clothing to donate to Career Wardrobe – an organization that provides professional clothing to both men and women in need in the Philadelphia Area. The goal is to empower them to pursue employment and economic security by providing free, professional clothing and by offering support and confidence-building.
“AVE’s generous donations will help us serve over 150 clients! We are so grateful for your support. It means a lot and makes a huge difference, as we provide support to over 5,000 individuals each year,” says Michelle Sonsino, Director of Development for Career Wardrobe. “Having clothing that makes our clients feel confident helps them make a good impression, stay motivated through the job search, and feel proud of who they are – which everyone should! Thank you so much for your dedication and support. We are grateful!”
“I am so proud of the generosity of our team members, residents, and partners. We were able to donate nearly 50 boxes of clothing to Dress for Success and Career Wardrobe to assist them in their mission of helping others achieve professional goals,” Welsh says. “We are currently exploring other ways our teams can be engaged with these organizations as volunteers and mentors.”
